About Treatment

An overview of the approaches Neil uses — osteopathy, sports massage and western medical acupuncture — and what to expect from an appointment.

The Approach

Assessment first, then a tailored plan

Every appointment begins with taking the time to understand your situation — your history, your symptoms and what you would like to achieve. From there, Neil combines the approaches below in a way suited to you, and will always explain what he suggests and why.

The descriptions here are general information about each approach. Whether any of them is appropriate for you depends on your individual circumstances, which Neil will assess and discuss with you.

What Neil Offers

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a manual therapy that focuses on the muscles, joints and connective tissue. Osteopaths commonly work with people experiencing musculoskeletal issues such as back, neck and joint pain. In the UK, osteopathy is a regulated profession, and osteopaths are registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).

Treatment may include a range of gentle, hands-on techniques. Neil will assess your situation and discuss whether osteopathy is likely to be a suitable option for you.

Soft-Tissue Work

Sports massage

Sports massage is a form of soft-tissue massage often used by active people, as well as those experiencing muscular tension or recovering from activity. It is not only for athletes — many people find soft-tissue work helpful as part of managing everyday muscular discomfort.

As with all treatment at the clinic, Neil will tailor the session to you and explain his approach.

Where Appropriate

Western medical acupuncture

Neil trained with the British Medical Acupuncture Society and may use western medical acupuncture alongside other treatment where he feels it is appropriate. If this is something he suggests, he will explain what it involves and answer any questions you have before proceeding.

Your Visit

What to expect & fees

Your first visit will involve a discussion of your history and symptoms, an assessment, and — where appropriate — treatment. Neil will talk you through his findings and any suggested plan, and you are always welcome to ask questions.

For current fees and appointment lengths, please get in touch — Neil is happy to explain these before you book.

Important: the information on this page is general and is not medical advice, a diagnosis, or a promise of any particular result. Whether a treatment is suitable, and what outcome may be expected, depends entirely on your individual circumstances. Please consult a qualified healthcare professional about your condition.
