What to expect:
Neil uses a combination of osteopathy, medical acupuncture and functional movement in order to assess and treat the individual presentation of the patient. This unique approach allows patients to enjoy the benefits of manual therapy, while also receiving functional movement training within the session and also as part of a home rehab program. Neil also offers sports massage sessions.
Osteopathy:
Osteopathy is a whole body approach to structure and function which aims to treat the root causes of pain through a combination of soft tissue, articulation, manipulation and postural rehabilitation.
Functional movement:
Neil studied functional movement with the world leading Gray Institute in the USA. This influences the way Neil assesses and treats patients. This approach is based on finding the true reasons for patients pain, based on movement screening and applying real-life movement patterns into the body in order to adapt and change patient’s bio mechanical efficiency.
Medical acupuncture:
Western medical acupuncture, or dry needling, is used to treat a number of musculoskeletal conditions. Neil predominantly uses needling as a complimentary tool to treat muscular trigger points.
Sports massage:
Sports massage comprises deep tissue massage, joint articulation and muscle stretching techniques to improve the health of joints and tissues. Sports massage techniques are used to help people over come pain and injury as well as enhance performance for those taking part in training regimes or sporting events.
Rehabilitation:
Each patient will be given exercises and advice to help provide longer term relief from pain. Neil beliefs passionately in the body’s ability to heal itself given the appropriate structural environment and will work with patients to achieve this.
